Some recent visitors we have had this month.

Here's a before and after picture of Lynn. He has lost 30 pounds and we are all very proud of him.

We drove to New Mexico over Labor Day weekend to visit Lynn's mom; his brother, Brian and family; his sister, Alina and family; and Nick and Lynsey.

I decided to try making the grand prize cookie recipe from Pillsbury's latest bake-off contest. The light colored cookies are the actual recipe and the chocolate cookies are with my modifications. They are extremely good. Here's the link for the recipe. http://www.pillsbury.com/Recipes/ShowRecipe.aspx?rid=44842 Oh, and by the way. The winner won a million dollars.

We just got back from a wonderful vacation visiting my family and Lynn's brother and his family. We were able to tour Philadelphia and Washington DC. and see many of the historical things our kids have been reading about in their school books for all of these years.

Frog Blog

Liz and Dave were swimming in the pool a few days ago and suddenly realized they weren't alone. This morning we discovered there's actually a pair of frogs that have taken up residence. So now we get to play "Wild Kingdom". We will catch and release them to a better place.

Another Monsoon Mishap

This sports car didn't make it home last night. Start digging fellas!!

The Power of the Monsoon

Unfortunately, Lynn drove his motorcycle yesterday and got caught by the flood water from the latest monsoon storm. The good news is, it was right in front of an Italian restaurant so the kids and I drove over in the SUV and ate dinner with him while we waiting for the flood waters to dwindle down. It was very entertaining.

What not to do during a monsoon

The owner of this car tried to drive through water that was flooding the road and got swept away during a monsoon storm. Arizona has a stupid motorist law about that. There's a $5000 fine if they have to come tow you out. People have lost their lives being swept away. Notice the broken windshield probably from rocks or tree branches.

My Children

Tiffany and her husband, Jason live in Washington. They are both in the navy. Jason is currently on deployment, and Tiffany is fixing up their house they just moved into. They are expecting their first baby in March.

Liz is attending Pima Community College here in Tucson and is working towards a Veterinary Technician degree. Dave is going into the 10th grade. He loves playing the guitar and bugging his sister.

Nick recently joined the Air National Guard and will leave for boot camp later this year. Lynsey is busy job searching this summer.

Kim and Shane still live in Idaho and are working hard raising our grandkids. They're doing a great job, too.

We had to put our German Shepherd, Dekker, to sleep. He got suddenly got very sick. We didn't pay for the lab work, but the vet thought it was cancer.
